This is a keeper; the only ingredient I changed was to use Golden Mushroom Soup instead of Cream of Mushroom. The Golden Mushroom creates a much richer sauce with chunks of mushrooms. I trimmed the roast of fat and cut it up into serving size chunks (Not too small). I was thoroughly impressed with the flavor of the gravy and served it with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed veg's. Everyone loved it. Thanks for sharing great recipe.

Made this last night, um, YUM! The gravy is so delicious and sweet just like we love. I added carrots 1 hour and a half before 6 hours was up, next time going to add potatoes. Made a baked potatoe and poured gravy over it, you definitely DO NOT NEED FLOUR.

Haven't even eaten the meal yet, and just tasting the gravy, it will become a staple in my kitchen and a real favorite. Won my wife over with this meal as well! Only thing I did different is I had seared the chuck roast before placing it into the crock pot. This was a great Sunday football type meal!

Hi - this is a recipe I submitted a long time ago. I would suggest you cook this on low for 8 hours or high for 4-5 hours. Also, a sear on the roast before placing into slow cooker does add more flavor, but not necessary. I do that when I have time.

love the sweetness! Have made it many times now.

This was a great roast! The only changes I made was to add a double shot of Jameson's Irish Whiskey to it. It turned out great.

I made this yesterday. Pretty much stuck to the recipe. Added some onions and mushrooms and lots of garlic.

Turned out wonderful!!!!!! Will do again for sure!!

Only thing I did different was I threw mini potatoes and baby carrots all in the bottom of the crockpot. I put the roast on top of the veggies and then I mixed all other ingredients together and poured in. Turned out awesome!

This roast is delicious, tender and sweet. For a complete meal, add potatoes and carrots (or other veggies). A great recipe that we have made several times.

Great recipe! Cut a lot of fat off meat before putting in crock pot. Only used half the brown sugar and it was plenty. Added some garlic, Greek seasoning, onions and carrots. Did not salt except to taste when done. Served with mashed potatoes. Delicious!

This was fabulous. My house smelled great all day. I did use the golden mushroom soup and I cut brown sugar in half. Even my picky daughter loved this. This is a keeper for sure.

Very good/I would change the brown sugar to 1/4 cup. Otherwise delish....

I was concerned about a half cup of sugar but it really came out well. I added a package of sliced mushrooms and a diced clove of garlic. Pro tip on the gravy, if you make mashed potatoes save 1/2-3/4 cup of the hot potato water and add it to the sauce. Thin your flour with cold water to make a medium viscosity slurry and add then stir over heat until thick. The starch in the potato water helps thicken and the gravy is wonderful.

Very tasty ! For leftovers we cut up the meat and mixed it in the gray and noodles.

Yes added carrots and potatoes about 1/2 way thru. Added a bit of water. Served over rice. I did tri tip roast. Would go lighter on brown sugar. Overall easy and nourishing meal.

I have no idea what I'm doing because I've been vegetarian for over 10 years. I made this for my family and followed the directions exactly. I looked like a hero! It was so delicious, everyone asked me for the recipe.

I used a bottom round and golden mushroom soup. The gravy was the savior of this recipe. Bottom round is fairly lean and although tender, was very dry after resting. The gravy tasted fantastic and gave much needed moisture back to the meat. Will try again next time I have chuck roast. Hopefully that will be more moist.

My husband loved this. Very tender.

very good. my kids loved it.

Great combination of flavors! My husband is partial to salt and I'm partial to sweet, so I halved the sugar as a compromise and it was still plenty sweet. I also added 1/2 cup water to thin out the gravy. everyone loved it! My brother is a huge pot roast lover, and he said it was one of the best he's ever had.

I would add a photo but it was devoured before I had a chance to take one!

Everyone loved it.

Awesome roast! I used a pot roast and just made up a cup of beef bouillon for the beef gravy. I also used little yellow potatoes and just threw them in.
12/29/2019
Good flavor and the fam loved it. I added some red bliss potatoes with 2 hours left. They took on too much of the beef flavor so I would make them separately next time.
10/10/2020
I used HALF the brown sugar and HALF the vinegar and I can say that I sure wouldn't want it sweeter than this.
09/28/2020
Delicious flavor. I used a different beef cut than chuck, forget what it was now. Also, just used a 10oz can of Cream of Mushroom soup and a 12oz jar of beef gravy. It made plenty of gravy. This recipe is a keeper!

Great recipe. Taste so good. Easy too.
03/20/2016
I have to be honest with you the beef turned out pretty good. I left out the sugar.

So simple and very tasty!!

My family loved this! I followed the hints of others and halved the brown sugar and added carrots 1 1/2 hr before serving. Didn't have the beef gravy so substituted beef broth. I will definitely be fixing this again and have bragged so much about it my sisters want the recipe.
10/15/2020
I substituted apple cider vinegar for white distilled vinegar (because I didn't have any). I reduced the brown sugar to 1/3 cup, and did not add additional salt because I think there is enough sodium in the cream of mushroom soup, the onion soup mix and the beef gravy. It came out great!

This was very good pleased the whole family

Excellent as written.

This was the best roast I've had in a long, long time!! I didn't have a can of gravy, so I used a packaged gravy and used a can of water, I used half the amount of sugar and I added 2 small onions and 4 small garlic cloves to the mix. The gravy was amazing! An absolute keeper!
09/22/2020
Very good! I felt the gravy was a little on the sweet side but my husband loved it! I may cut down the amount of brown sugar next time. I cooked it on high for 5 hours and then turned off the cooker and let it stay warm for another 30min. It was perfectly done.
09/28/2020
The gravy was way too sweet. It was just awful.
10/14/2020
Delicious! I didn't change anything except that I didn't add flour at the end....it didn't need it. Cooked on high for 6 hours, then low for an hour. I will make this again and again. Thank you!
09/26/2020
This was a very tasty and tender roast. Was not sure I would like the sweet element but the gravy was really good. Will definitely make it again
